Binkley to Head NYIBC

Borders Group public relations director Ann Binkley has been named executive director of New York Is Book Country, becoming the third person in 13 months to hold the title. Binkley will step into that position August 25, just in time to oversee the 25th annual NYIBC Book Festival, scheduled for September 17–21, which includes in-school programs and special themed book events and culminates with the Fifth Avenue Street Fair.
Alyse Myers, chairman of NYIBC and v-p, marketing services for the New York Times, said Binkley's "extensive knowledge of book publishing, combined with her understanding of community outreach programs, will be of great value to NYIBC in helping us promote the benefits of literacy to people of all ages." In addition to serving as the spokesperson for Borders, Binkley organized corporate events such as bookstore openings.
