Dr. Phil Is Responsible

Harper San Francisco is crediting Dr. Phil with making its book Before the Change, by Ann Louise Gittleman, a national bestseller. HSF reports that the book's sales took off when Gittleman first appeared on the show on May 20 and surged again when the segment was re-aired on July 29. There are 185,000 copies in print; and about 105,000 of them shipped after the first broadcast. HSF hit the reprint button eight times after the May show. Gittleman is getting a lot of airtime as an expert on natural alternatives to hormone replacement therapy.
