A Hot Picador Pick

The Picador folk are keeping a close eye on sales of Alison McGee's Shadow Baby, the August Today Book Club pick. The July 2001 novel was selected by The Nanny Diaries authors Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. The publisher had about 15,000 copies in print before the Today boost and went back for a 75,000-copy second printing in anticipation of stronger sales. A few hours after the announcement, the book ranked #32 at Amazon.com.
