Dr. Tess Has Healthy Sales

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 9/1/2003

Doctor-turned-novelist Tess Gerritsen returns to our fiction bestseller lists in the #5 spot this week with The Sinner, her highest landing yet. In her latest book, she draws upon her experience as a physician working in Hawaii with patients suffering from leprosy. Gerritsen's current mass market bestseller, The Apprentice, went from #11 to #8 this week. Ballantine reports 145,000 copies of The Sinner in print after three trips to press; The Apprentice has 900,000 copies in print. The author kicks off her national tour on September 2, criss-crossing the country with stops in Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boulder, L.A., Dayton, Lexington, Louisville and Worcester before returning to Maine, where she will make local appearances through September 27.
