Changes at Philomel

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 9/8/2003

Patricia Gauch, publisher and editorial director of Philomel Books, an imprint of Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers, will become v-p and editor-at-large. Executive editor Michael Green has been named associate publisher and editorial director, and will report to PPBFYR president Doug Whiteman.

Gauch came to Philomel in 1985, replacing Ann Beneduce. The authors and illustrators she has worked with include Eric Carle, Patricia Polacco and David Small. Gauch is also the author of several books for children, including Christina Katerina and the Box and the Tanya books, illustrated by Satomi Ichikawa. She will continue to work with her authors as well as concentrating more on her writing.

Green has been at Philomel for 12 years; he began his career in publishing as an assistant to Gauch.
