Clifton, Anderson Rise at Ingram

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 9/15/2003

The Ingram Book Group has made some personnel shifts in its management team. Peter Clifton, president of Ingram Periodicals and Ingram International, has been named president of Ingram Library Services. Clifton, who joined Ingram two years ago, will remain head of Ingram International, but the company has named Chris Anderson to succeed him at Ingram Periodicals. Both men will report to Jim Chandler, Ingram's chief commercial officer.

Chandler, who had been overseeing Ingram Library, said Clifton will focus on three new initiatives in his new role, with the top priority the expansion of Ingram's services and business in the public and school library segments. Clifton will also concentrate on increasing the unit's distribution of periodicals to libraries and expanding Ingram's Spanish-language programs.

Anderson moves to the periodical group from Ingram-affiliated businesses, Publishers Resources Inc. and Ingram Fulfillment Partners. Both units were closed at the beginning of the year, and Anderson has been working on winding those businesses down. Chandler said Anderson will help "redefine Ingram Periodicals' role in the magazine industry overall." The company distributes more than 3,700 periodicals.
