Book Character to Tour in Lieu of Author

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 9/22/2003

When Scholastic found out Philip Ardagh wasn't available to go on tour for the paperback release of A House Called Awful End (the first book in the Eddie Dickens Trilogy), the house decided to tour one of the book's characters instead. A plush stoat (in the book, a stuffed stoat travels with Mad Aunt Maud) and a steamer trunk display containing free items will travel to bookstores nationwide in hopes of creating increased interest for the book. The tour began in the Scholastic store in New York City at the end of August and will run through December.
