Fiction Contest Renamed

Hyperion Books for Children has announced that its annual New Voices, New Worlds fiction contest is being renamed the Paul Zindel First Novel Award.
According to publicity director Jennifer Levine, Zindel, who passed away earlier this year, was "unfailingly generous in his encouragement of aspiring writers throughout his career, and it is in the spirit of his advocacy for new authors that Hyperion continues the award in his name." Hyperion published several of Zindel's books for young adults, including Loch, Night of the Bat and Raptor.
