Richard Peck Wins O'Dell Prize

The River Between Us (Dial) by Newbery Award author Richard Peck has won the 2004 Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction. River , Peck's most recent novel, is a mystery set during the Civil War.

The award, established in 1982 by children's author O'Dell (who died in 1989), is given to a children's or young adult book published in English by a U.S. publisher and set in the Americas. Peck will receive a prize of $5,000.
