A Good Caper, Barr None

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 2/23/2004

Nevada Barr's 12th Anna Pigeon mystery, High Country, lands in the #12 spot on PW's chart. The author is spending most of February on a 13-city book signing and publicity tour that will end with a weekend event at Yosemite National Park (series heroine Pigeon is a national parks ranger, and Yosemite is the scene of her latest mystery). Barr's first Pigeon book, Track of the Cat, published in 1993, won two awards for best debut. Putnam reports 85,000 copies in print of the latest. A Berkley reprint of the 11th Pigeon novel, Fallback, goes onto the mass market list in the #10 slot, with 430,000 copies in print.
