2004 Zolotow Award Winners

Amy Schwartz has won the Charlotte Zolotow Award for 2004 for her picture book What James Likes Best (Atheneum/Jackson). Honors went to John Coy for Two Old Potatoes and Me, illustrated by Carolyn Fisher (Knopf); Rebecca O'Connell for The Baby Goes Beep (Roaring Brook); Won-Ldy Paye and Margaret Lippert for Mrs. Chicken and the Hungry Crocodile, illustrated by Julie Pashkis (Holt); James Rumford for Calabash Cat and His Amazing Journey (Houghton); and George Shannon for Tippy-Toe Chick Go!, illustrated by Laura Dronzek (Greenwillow). The award, established in 1998, is given annually to the author of the best picture book text published in the U.S.
