Trump's Triumph

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 4/5/2004

The publisher's promotional headline says it all: "First, he made a billion dollars. Then, he made The Apprentice. Now, The Donald shows you how to make a fortune, Trump style." Before the March 23 on-sale date of Trump: How to Get Rich, Random House had 350,000 copies in print; a second trip to press took that number to 500,000. The Donald's first TV venture, The Apprentice, has racked up major Nielsen numbers and is, from all reports, the highest-rated debut of the season. The publisher has been working closely with NBC to tie in book promotion with Trump's appearances touting the show. To date, publicity has included a People cover story, second serial in US magazine, first serial in the New York Post and a host of media appearances: Regis & Kelly, Extra!, Access Hollywood, Conan O'Brien, Imus and The O'Reilly Factor . Still to come are Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show, Fox Sports Network's Best Damn Sports Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, appearances with Dennis Miller and Oprah, and two one-hour Dateline specials.
