Zevon's Ex-Wife Doing a Bio

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 4/12/2004

In another blast from rock's storied past, executive editor David Hirshey at HarperCollins swiftly preempted a book about the late singer-songwriter Warren Zevon, to be written by his former wife, Crystal Zevon, who was left Zevon's meticulously kept diaries over a span of 25 years and also has many previously unseen pictures. She'll put it all in a book to be called I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Life and Times of Warren Zevon. Hirshey bought the package from Marian Young at the Young agency, for publication by the Ecco imprint in September next year, the second anniversary of the artist's death from brain cancer. Among contributors to the book will be some of Zevon's celebrated contemporaries, who also shared in his last, Grammy Award–winning, CD: Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Don Henley and Tom Petty.
