Latest CrossGen Departures

by Douglas Wolk -- Publishers Weekly, 4/19/2004

CrossGen, the financially troubled comics and graphic-novel publisher, has seen a few more high-profile departures. Senior v-p of publishing Bill Rosemann resigned at the beginning of April, director of sales and marketing Chris Oarr resigned April 5 and director of sales, direct and foreign market, James Brietbeil left around the same time, technically leaving the company with no sales staff.

CrossGen also announced that Chuck Dixon and Greg Land's series American Power has been shelved. The company had planned to distribute a free preview issue of it on Free Comic Book Day (July 3), but now it will not be participating in this year's event.

No CrossGen trade paperbacks have been distributed to the book trade since last summer, and a new publication schedule has not yet appeared.

Oarr declined to comment to PW on leaving, and CrossGen had no further comment on the departures.
