Fiction Long Lifers

Two first novels that had very impressive runs in their hardcover editions now begin their trade paperback tenure. Landing in the #3 spot this week is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, which had a 65-week hardcover run; it had 27 printings, for a total of 2.825 million copies. The Back Bay trade paper edition has 825,000 copies in print after four trips to press.

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, a Broadway trade paperback, has 323,000 copies in print after two trips to press. It had a 24-week bestseller run as Doubleday hardcover; there are more than 478,000 copies in print of that edition.
