New Millennium Trustee Named

by Steven Zeitchik -- Publishers Weekly, 5/10/2004

Al Siegel, a Southern California bankruptcy expert, was appointed as a trustee by the court in the New Millennium bankruptcy proceedings after creditors filed a request that company president Michael Viner no longer run the company. Viner resigned from New Millennium last month.

According to a source on the creditors' side, "the catalogue is attractive," and Siegel is likely to try to sell it, either while New Millennium is a going concern under Chapter 11 or even if it files for Chapter 7 liquidation. The choice could turn on whether a check from distributor CDS, due this month, arrives on time. Deborah Raffin, Viner's soon-to-be-ex-wife and former business partner, is said to be consulting with the trustee, but does not have any decision-making power.
