Marking its second week on our nonfiction list is Battle Ready by Tom
Clancy and Gen. Anthony Zinni (Ret.), the fourth volume in Clancy's Commanders series, about the lives of military leaders in various branches of the armed services. Putnam's May 24 launch was bolstered by a 60 Minutes
profile of Zinni the preceding evening. Clancy and/or Zinni have also appeared on Good Morning America
and This Week, and have schmoozed with such media gurus as Charlie Rose, Lou Dobbs, Deborah Norville, Wolf Blitzer, Diane Rehm et al. The authors also participated in a 20-city TV satellite tour and two radio satellite tours. Their June 3 discussion at the Smithsonian, moderated by Jim Bohannon, was taped for telecast on CSPAN 2. In addition, Zinni was interviewed by Rolling Stone
for its upcoming national affairs issue. Copies in print: 439,000.
