Solotaroff as a Body Builder

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 6/28/2004

A book by Paul Solotaroff, son of the noted editor, critic and author Ted (and brother of Ivan) about his early bodybuilding activities and the ways in which they changed his world and his image of himself, was bought at auction for Little, Brown by Michael Pietsch. The book, The Body Shop, is described as a combination memoir and lyrical tribute to the impact of that culture in the late 1970s, when Solotaroff began to participate. The author is a journalist (for Rolling Stone and Men's Journal, among others) and is also the author of Group, an inside study of group therapy. The North American rights sale was made by David McCormick at Collins McCormick.
