Earnings Up At EDC

Net income at Educational Development Corp. jumped 41% in the first quarter ended May 31, to $824,000, and revenue increased 16%, to $8.4 million. EDC's home-business division had another strong quarter, with sales up 21%, to $6.4 million, which the company attributed to a 12% increase in the number of home sales reps. Sales in the publishing division increased 2%, to just over $2 million.
