'Alive!' Survivor Tells Own Story

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 8/16/2004

The personal story of Nando Parrado, one of the survivors of the Andean plane crash involving an Argentine Rugby team in 1972 that inspired the book and movie Alive! is now telling his own story, and Crown's Annik La Farge has bought world rights in it from agent Stephanie Kip Rostan at Levine Greenberg. In the book, co-written with journalist and author Vince Rause, Parrado tells his own version of the ordeal, and of the lessons it has taught him about courage and survival in the face of adversity in the 30-plus years since then (he was 19 at the time, and helped lead his surviving team mates from the wreckage on a mountain glacier to safety).
