Rising Right

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 8/30/2004

When two major New York publishers set up right-wing imprints last summer, the question was whether they would deliver a knockout blow to more ideologically committed houses like Regnery, which had previously dominated conservative publishing. Regnery couldn’t have hoped for a better rejoinder than its current #1 bestseller, Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry by John E. O’Neill and Jerome R. Corsi, not to mention its four other New York Times bestsellers over the past 13 months. Overall, the bestseller lists point to a strong market that can support multiple players, including imprints at major New York houses—like Regan Books, Crown Forum and Sentinel—as well as the WND Books imprint at religion publisher Thomas Nelson.
