9/11 Report, Part Deux

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 9/6/2004

Steadily climbing PW's mass market list is The 9/11 Report, published by St. Martin's on July 29 with a first printing of 200,000 copies. (Its publication followed by one week the Norton edition, which today marks its sixth week atop our trade paperback list.) While the Norton edition contains only the text of the report—an impressive 567 pages—the St. Martin's version, reported publicity manager John Karle, is supplemented with analysis and reportage by the New York Times. "There is a chronology of major developments in the commission's work as reported in the Times," Karle explained, "as well as selections from the Times coverage of the report itself." After four trips back to press, the in-print total is 400,000.
