Oprah Makes 'Good'

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 9/27/2004

Oprah has done it again—she's gotten a classic onto the national bestseller charts. More than 60 years have passed since Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth won a Pulitzer Prize; less than a week after Oprah announced the pick on her show, the book hit our trade paperback chart in the #2 spot (it couldn't knock off The 9/11 Commission Report). The Washington Square Press Contemporary Classics edition had a special Oprah edition printing of 825,000 copies.
