Sophie + Sis = Six

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 10/11/2004

QVC addicts and mall maniacs will be especially pleased to note that Sophie Kinsella's Becky Bloomwood has returned (and has enlisted the family), as Shopaholic & Sister debuts in the #6 fiction spot. Dial proudly notes that this is the first hardcover in the series (Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret enjoyed a seven-week run on our hardcover list earlier this year), with more than 330,000 copies after three printings. The three earlier Shopaholic titles racked up an 18-week total on our trade paper list. Kinsella, a Brit, made her first U.S. TV appearance on Today, and did a TV satellite tour to more than a dozen morning talk shows. Partnering with American Airlines Vacations and Visit Britain, Bantam Dell has created a "Shopaholic & Sister Spree-for-All Sweepstakes," in which one grand prize winner will receive a London getaway, a $5,000 shopping spree and lunch with Kinsella. Further details—and lots more—can be found on Kinsella's Web site, www.readsophiekinsella.com.
