The Mystery Writers of America have named Marcia Muller its Grand Master, the highest honor it hands out. The group credited Muller, whose husband and occasional collaborator is fellow mystery writer Bill Pronzini, with inventing the hard-boiled female P.I. novel. She's published by Mysterious Press/Warner. Previous grand masters include Robert Parker, Ellery Queen, Daphne du Maurier and Graham Greene.
