Peter Bedrick, 76

Peter Bedrick, former publisher of Schocken Books and the founder of Peter Bedrick Books and Enchanted Lion Books, died December 8. He was 76. Bedrick's publishing career began in 1963, when he joined the Schocken sales staff. He left Schocken in 1983 when he and his wife, Muriel, founded the children's book publisher Peter Bedrick Books. The company was sold to the Tribune Co. in 1998 and is now part of McGraw-Hill. In 2003, the Bedricks started Enchanted Lion, which publishes nonfiction for children, young adults and adults.
