William G. Tarbox, 84

William Tarbox, former president of Children's Books USA, died December 6, at the age of 84. Tarbox graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1942 and received his master's degree in 1949. He joined the Combined Book Exhibit that year, where he stayed for 36 years, retiring in 1985. In that year, he created Children's Books USA, an exhibit that showcased American children's books at the annual Bologna Book Fair. Tarbox sold the business in 1997 to Arthur and Lucia Staniels, who continue to run it.
