Diamond Debut

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 1/10/2005

This week's single nonfiction debutant is Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed by Jared Diamond, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Guns, Germs, and Steel. PW's starred review called Diamond's study "a stimulating, incisive historical account of... many declines and falls." The author will tour 14 cities and will appear on Morning Edition and with Charlie Rose and Diane Rehm. Features have run in the New Yorker and the Los Angeles Times, with others set for Newsweek and the New York Times. Viking reports 205,000 copies in print.
