Collins Switches to SMP

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 1/10/2005

Veteran author Jackie Collins, whose steamy bestsellers are often set in Hollywood, is moving to St. Martin's Press in a multibook, seven-figure deal just signed by SMP publisher Sally Richardson, who proclaims herself a longtime fan. The signing, for North American, first serial and audio rights, was with Mort Janklow at Janklow & Nesbit, and Collins is already at work on the first of the new books, to be called Lovers and Players; it's a family saga, set in New York and L.A., starring a billionaire father, his three sons and a beautiful biracial young woman. Jennifer Weis will be Collins's new editor. The author's last book, Hollywood Divorces, was published by Simon & Schuster, her longtime publisher, two years ago.
