Cussler Writing for Kids

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 1/10/2005

Bestselling author Clive Cussler is the latest adult writer to turn his hand to work for younger readers. He has signed with Michael Green, editorial director of Penguin's Philomel imprint, to write a fantasy called Vin Fiz, about a pair of siblings who can transform toys into the real thing and fly around the country in a model of a Wright Brothers plane helping kids in trouble. Green, who signed the author with agent Peter Lampack, said he had long admired Cussler's work, thought his adventure writing made him ideal for the YA market, and felt the book would be in the tradition of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Cussler's latest adult novel, a Dirk Pitt adventure called Dark Wind, is a current bestseller for Putnam.
