by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 1/24/2005
The adult trade segments bounced back from a weak October to post double-digit gains in November, according to monthly estimates from the AAP. Sales in the adult trade segment rose 28.9% in the month, while trade paperback sales increased 19.3%. The children's segments also had good gains in November with the hardcover's 49.3% increase the largest among all publishing segments, but sales of children's hardcover were still down nearly 23% for the first 11 months of the year. The religious book segment had a second consecutive disappointing month with sale off 36.1% in November. A combination of a 27.1% increase in basal sales and a 22.2% gain in supplemental sales pushed total elhi sales up 25.3% in November.
