Morning Light Adds Parabola

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 1/24/2005

Morning Light Press, an 18-month-old publisher based in Sandpoint, Idaho, has jump-started its publishing program with the acquisition of about 24 books and audios from Parabola magazine. MLP has published four titles so far and plans to publish as many as eight books per year beginning in 2006. The list, which centers on spiritual traditions, will include a series of anthologies drawn from Parabola, said Steve Jadick, director of sales and marketing for MLP.

Joseph Kulin, publisher of Parabola, said the sale will allow the company to focus its resources on the magazine. The deal with MLP excludes Parabola's children's list and a few adult titles that will continue to be sold by Parabola's distributor, IPG. Kulin said Parabola may publish new children's books if the backlist continues to sell well.

MLP is a nonprofit press that is part of the Morning Light Foundation. Its books are distributed by Bookworld.
