Name that Imprint; More Agent Merger Mania

Holt/Roaring Brook's previously unnamed graphic novel imprint, first announced back in July, will be called :01 First Second. Much like the comics it will publish, the name combines an image (the graphic of the :01) with words. Editorial director Mark Siegel says the imprint's initial list--which includes Eddie Campbell, Jessica Abel and Joann Sfar--will arrive in the spring of '06.

And some agent news, where the trend of mergers continues. Former editor and author Betsy Lerner is hooking up with Dunow and Carlson, where she'll be a partner. Jim Carroll and Daphne Merkin are among the authors she'll bring with her to the newly formed Dunow, Carlson and Lerner. Perhaps this marriage isn't unexpected given their past history: Lerner, it turns out, was also a Dunow author for her memoir Food & Loathing; she returned the favor for Dunow's own The Way Home.
