Nuland on How to Grow Old

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 2/28/2005

Bestselling author and surgeon Sherwin B. Nuland (How We Die) has signed a new two-book deal with Random House's Bob Loomis, for a book on how to age gracefully and a collection of essays. Nuland himself has a graceful line explaining the aims of his How to Grow Old: A Physician's Prescription:"The admonition 'act your age' has been applied to every stage of life, but it is in the older years that it takes on a meaning beyond the mere avoidance of making a fool of oneself."Loomis bought world English rights from agent Glen Hartley at Writers Representatives. The second book is The Uncertain Art: Essays in Medicine, previously published Nuland material.
