Gilmore Girls into He's Just Not That into You

Fans of TV's Gilmore Girls on the WB appreciate the characters' witty, rapid-fire dialogue, which is frequently filled with pop-culture references and shout-outs to books and authors. (In fact, the Gilmore Girls Web site even has a Rory's Book Club feature that lists a plethora of real reading suggestions inspired by lead character and Yale freshman Rory Gilmore.)
Last night's episode did not disappoint certain segments of the literati. In that installment, Dragonfly Inn co-proprietors Lorelei Gilmore and Sookie St. James bemoaned that guests have apparently "borrowed" the inn's classy leather-bound copies of Jonathan Swift, Dickens and the like and replaced them with Clifford the Big Red Dog and five copies of He's Just Not That into You. Sookie commented to Lorelei, "You've been airplane-booked," playfully pegging the popularity of the Simon Spotlight Entertainment title as an airport buy.
Moments later, unctuous inn employee Michel returns from his vacation, bearing gifts for his co-workers. Sookie was the lucky recipient of--surprise, surprise--a copy of He's Just Not That into You, obviously purchased at the airport. Perhaps S&S will have the last laugh with a bump up for its surprise bestseller.
