Pinkney Steps Down at HM

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 3/28/2005

Andrea Davis Pinkney cited family reasons as the motivation for her decision to step down as publisher of the Houghton Mifflin children's book group. Pinkney, who is based in New York City, said, "Management of the company wants the publisher to be based in Boston," which is where the rest of the children's group is located. After discussion with her family, Pinkney said they decided not to move.

A HM spokesperson said a search has started for her successor. Pinkney has been publisher since June 2002; previously she was editorial director at Hyperion Books for Children. Her last day at HM will be April 8.
