A Friedman Finish

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 4/18/2005

When it comes to hardcover nonfiction, Rick Warren's The Purpose-Driven Life is still #1, in its 113th week. But New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman's The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century landed in the #2 spot, ahead of Jane Fonda, Jack Welch and all the pope books. Farrar, Straus & Giroux reports 335,000 copies in print after three trips to press. The book debuted in the #1 spot on the national Book Sense list.
