Twins and Strangers

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 4/18/2005

The extraordinary story of a pair of identical twins, separated at birth and then separately adopted, who knew nothing of each other's existence until they were 35 years old, has been preempted for Random by Jennifer Hershey. It's called Identical Strangers, and Paula Bernstein and Elyse Schein will write of their birth separation as a study in nature vs. nurture, their very different childhoods and adult worlds, and their reunion, along with speculation on issues of family and identity. Bernstein is a former Variety staff writer, Schein a Paris-based writer and filmmaker. The world English rights deal was made with Peter Steinberg at Regal Literary.
