Advice on the Go

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 4/25/2005

First Lady of California Maria Shriver has penned a small book (62 pages) of advice from mothers to daughters (she has two teen daughters) about "what you need to know as you leave your childhood—and begin the rest of your life." She and her mother, Eunice Shriver, were on Oprah on April 8 (for the entire hour!) promoting And One More Thing Before You Go.... The Free Press did a first printing of 441,000 copies and since the April 5 laydown has gone back to press three times, bringing the in-print total to 496,000. There's lots of national publicity planned leading up to Mother's Day, including a 15-city television satellite tour, an appearance on The Tim Russert Show (May 7), an excerpt in the May issue of Good Housekeeping and a cover story in More magazine.
