'Kite Runner' Author Back

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 4/25/2005

Khaled Hosseini, whose debut novel, The Kite Runner, scored a huge international success and is still going strong here in paperback, has signed with his Riverhead publisher, Cindy Spiegel, for a new novel. He's close-mouthed about it other than to offer a title, Dreaming in Titanic City, and to say it's about a pair of women and is set, like Kite, in the author's native Afghanistan. Spiegel got U.S. rights only from agent Elaine Koster and, as before, other rights are being offered by Chandler Crawford for translation, David Grossman for the U.K. and Helen Heller for Canada. Impatient readers will have to wait, however; although delivery is set for later this year, it probably won't be published until 2007.
