New Putnam Editors

Ivan Held, who was named in March to head Putnam, has added two new editors. Former HarperCollins executive editor Dan Conaway has been named Putnam executive editor. And Rachel Kahan, who had edited the author of the Sweet Potato Queensat Crown, has been named Putnam senior editor.

Hastings Picks White

Ed White, previously merchandise manager at Baker & Taylor, has been named director of book operations at Hastings.

Henderson Rises at HC

Rockelle Henderson, formerly marketing director, has been promoted to associate publisher of Amistad.

Promotions at Chas. Levy

Howard Reese, formerly president and COO of Levy Home Entertainment, has been named president and CEO, and was elected to the board of directors of Chas. Levy. Steve Carlson, formerly v-p and controller, has been promoted to senior v-p and CFO. Mike Hesselbach, senior v-p, sales and field marketing, has been promoted to senior v-p and CMO at LHE. Lou Keiler, formerly a partner at the firm Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, has been named senior v-p, general counsel and corporate secretary.

HM Promotes Berliner

Harvey Berliner, formerly sales and marketing manager for office products and school supply, has been promoted to national sales director, school supply and office product channels.

Thompson Joins Columbia Univ. Press

Myles C. Thompson, founder and former publisher of Thomson Texere, will join the press as publisher of finance and economics, a new area of emphasis.

Perigee Promotes Howry

Michelle Howry, formerly an editor, has been promoted to senior editor at Perigee Books, where she helped develop the category of nonfiction chick lit.

New Hires at Cornell Univ. Press

Peter Wissoker, formerly senior acquisitions editor at Temple University Press, has been named an editor in sociology, anthropology, geography and urban studies. Alison Kalett, previously an editorial associate at Princeton University Press, has been named an acquisitions editor in American history and American studies.
