Karchmar Joins William Morris Agency

Dorian Karchmar, previously an agent at Lowenstein-Yost Associates, is joining the agency, representing both literary and mainstream fiction writers and general nonfiction.

Harper Promotes Davis

Dawn Davis, editorial director of Amistad Press, has been named vice president.

Promotions at Waterbrook

Dudley Delffs, formerly fiction editor, has been promoted to v-p of editorial and editor-in-chief. Ginia Hairston, formerly senior director of marketing and publicity, has been promoted to v-p of marketing and publicity. Senior editor Bruce Nygren has been named editorial director.

Lawton Joins Books & Such Agency

Wendy Lawton, an author and former president and designer of her own company, Lawton Dolls, has been hired as a literary agent.

Dyer Moves to Fulcrum

Mike Dyer, a founding partner of the software venture Wildflower Productions, has joined the company as v-p of sales.

In addition, Fulcrum has added Tammy Deranleau as director of sales. Deranleau spent the past eight years as the sales manager for National Geographic Maps/ Trails Illustrated.

Goldberg McDuffie Promotion

Angela Bagetta Hayes, previously publicity manager, has been promoted to deputy director of publicity.

Berkley Hires Hultenschmidt

Leah Hultenschmidt, formerly an acquiring editor at Dorchester, has been named a senior editor. She'll acquire romances, chick lit, mysteries and nonfiction.
