BEA Attendance Climbed in 2005

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 6/20/2005

A total of 34,966 people registered to attend BookExpo America this year, a 38% increase over registration in Chicago in 2004. The actual number of people who attended the show was less than the registration figure—a new scanning procedure instituted by BEA logged 27,421 people passing through the show's entrances. Actual attendance is likely to have been somewhere in between the two figures.

The number of book buyers in New York was 7,701, an increase of 2.8% over 2004, and a 9.2% increase over the last time the show was in New York, in 2002.
