200 People Who Everyone Disagrees About

by Steven Zeitchik, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 9/15/2005

Responsive publishing--that is, an actual conversation playing out in real-time via books--is not something you see very often.

But it's something that Nation Books is no doubt hoping gets started when it releases a new title by Jack Huberman, the author of The Bush-Hater's Handbook.

You have to love--or you'll love to hate--100 People Who Are Really Scewing Up America, described as a "liberal riposte" to Bernard Goldberg's "unforgivably succesful" bestseller, 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America, published this July by HarperCollins.

According to the proposal, the book, which agent William Clark just sold to Carl Bromley, will count down the list of people and explain their deleterious effect, basically taking the same format (though not neecessarily the same number) and giving it an ideological twist. The list goes for both influential conservatives--Roger Ailes and Tom DeLay make the cut-but also celebrities and Hollywooders like Jennifer Anniston and Jerry Bruckheimer. And Bernard Goldberg is on the list, natch.
