Vigliano to Shop Sheehan Memoir
by Matthew Thornton, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 11/23/2005
With a quickie book of her speeches now hitting shelves via Hawaiian small publisher Koa Books, Cindy Sheehan, the California mom-turned-antiwar activist will be focusing her attention on a memoir to be represented by David Vigliano at Vigliano Associates. The memoir will further explore Sheehan's son Casey's life, his death in the Iraq war and how the family tragedy moved her to activism. Sheehan is currently developing a proposal for the memoir and Vigliano expects to be submitting it to publishers shortly after the holidays.
Sheehan won exposure for her cause this summer by waging a lengthy vigil outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Blog entries composed at the Crawford site attracted the interest of Koa, which offered Sheehan a reportedly "modest" advance for her writings, which Sheehan accepted in order to get the work published quickly. Sheehan expects to resume protesting outside the Crawford ranch over the Thanksgiving holiday.
