Tommy Nelson Acquires Bibleman Brand

by Shannon Maughan, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 1/26/2006

It's a bird, it's a plane…it's Bibleman? Rights to the masked superhero, Bibleman, who slays villains with quotes from Scripture—he's the star of live-action DVDs, a traveling road show and numerous video games—have been acquired by Tommy Nelson, the children’s division of Thomas Nelson. Nelson purchased the trademarked Bibleman brand (along with licensing rights to past and future titles and a catalog of ancillary products) from Pamplin Entertainment. With plans to re-launch the brand in the fall, Nelson is looking to roll out a new Bibleman DVD series along with a number of book titles. Until April, when Nelson takes over sales of the brand, retailers can obtain Bibleman products through Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing, with distribution through CNI.
