Spring 2006 Children's Books

by Joy Bean -- Publishers Weekly, 2/20/2006

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo and Lilly's Big Day by Kevin Henkes may be two of the biggest books of the spring season, but there are plenty more titles to catch your attention, no matter what your reading pleasure.

Along with our A-Z round-up of the children's books due out through June, and a sneak peek at the highlights for fall, we offer three articles. The first takes a look at the politics and positioning behind the scenes of the three big national morning shows, which are now featuring more children's books than ever. Our second feature contains the top 10 complaints straight from the mouths of children's booksellers, including everything from the power that chain bookstores wield to frustration at not getting authors to appear at stores in the middle of the country.

Finally, we profile Australian author Markus Zusak, who recently won a Printz Honor for I Am the Messenger, and whose new spring novel is called The Book Thief. Happy reading!
