I just finished Nailed [Walker, Apr.] by Patrick Jones, and I can't wait to hand it out to the teen readers at my library. Rarely have I gotten to read what first love is like from the male point of view, and Jones really delves into all aspects of it—from first asking the girl out, to sex (though there aren't any explicit sex scenes), to breaking up. It's emotion-packed and Jones has done a great job fully fleshing out his main character, Bret, who I won't easily forget. The book also explores Bret's relationship with both of his parents, especially the very difficult one with his dad. I was also impressed with the very realistic teen language. I rarely mark pages in realistic teen novels (and I read a lot of them), but I have a couple of dog-eared pages on this ARC.
