What's Inside

by Lynn Garrett -- Publishers Weekly, 3/27/2006

Faith is about more then ideas; it's about actions, and praxis (or practices) has always been at the heart of religions. Things like prayer—whether recited, chanted or done inwardly—and meditation—whether sitting or walking—are faith embodied. In this issue of Religion Update we look at how a variety of religions give their adherents something physical and concrete to do as they pursue a relationship with God and spirit, however defined. We also examine how the students of spiritual teachers strive to carry their messages to the world through publishing. In an America increasingly untethered to religious institutions, books have become even more important as a path to lived spirituality.
