Fernando to UPK
Kalyani Fernando has been named acquisitions editor at the University Press of Kansas. Fernando, who was most recently associate editor at History Book Club, will focus on Western history, Native American studies and environmental history.
Miller, Parrish Up at Nelson
Joel Miller has been promoted from senior editor to associate publisher at Thomas Nelson's Nelson Current imprint. Kristen Parrish has also been promoted to senior editor at Nelson Books and Nelson Business imprints.
Chambers to Working White
Frank Chambers has been named sales director for the U.K.–based Working White. Chambers, who will handle co-edition sales worldwide, was formerly foreign rights director at the Chrysalis Book Group.
Fleming Rises at S&S
Sue Fleming has been promoted from marketing director to the newly created position of v-p, executive director of online and consumer marketing for the adult publishing group at Simon & Schuster.
Promos at HC
A number of promotions at HarperCollins: Adrienne DiPietro has been named v-p, director of marketing for Avon Books; Jill Schwartzman is now senior editor at the HC imprint; and Michael McKenzie has been promoted to director of publicity at Ecco.
